MIRACLE MOUNTAIN – News & Updates

We held our first class on Miracle Mountain and solved a problem at the same time.    The problem:  we had a huge bee hive inside a wall of the big house on the lower compound.

The solution:

We brought down master bee keeper Art Hall from San Jose to teach “Introduction to Bee Keeping”.

After some classroom instruction we headed to the wood shop to build bee hives (the bees new home).

We had sixteen students of different ages and background.     All were very enthusiastic and involved.   Lots of good bonding time, laughter and fellowship, though you wouldn’t know it by our facial expressions (except Richie!).

Even a few of the our kids helped in building the bee hives.

Then it was back to the classroom to try on our bee suits.

Whew! all that on Friday…

Saturday we suited up and headed to the lower compound to begin the process of moving our visitors to their new home.

It was an extremely long day, and hot!   The bees were not as enthusiastic as we were so progress was slow, but we still needed to get our new bees safely into their new home.

Sunday we housed them and moved them into their new neighborhood.  No, not Sesame Street.  Bees need to be in full sunlight and besides, Oscar wouldn’t be thrilled with bees digging around in his garbage!

We also learned how to take care of our new bees in their hive and the  bee hive that Art (our instructor) donated. We learned it’s best to have two bee hives so you can tell if something is wrong with a hive, or not.

On Monday we learned the profession of bee keeping, harvesting honey, wax and propolis.  We tasted honey from our very own hive and said goodbye to our instructor.

It was truly an excellent class.   Learned a lot and saved a hive of bees an preserved our environment and will tie in nicely to our organic gardening class, but that’s for another time down the road.

Thanks be to God for keeping us all safe, even in the heat and a special thank you to Art Hall, Master Bee Keeper!

HOLLYWOOD IMPACT STUDIOS – News & Updates

I know it’s been awhile since my last post.    It has been busy at HOLLYWOOD IMPACT STUDIOS in all three ministries (In-Jail Program, Alumni Program & Miracle Mountain.)   God has been blessing all three.

Last month we wanted to thank our volunteers who have been giving so much of their time.  So we had a FUN DAY THANK YOU B-B-Q at Miracle Mountain.   Here are some of the photos.

HOLLYWOOD IMPACT STUDIOS – News & Updates

HOLLYWOOD IMPACT STUDIOS flew to Florida to attend the NRB Convention… (National Religious Broadcasters).   We had meetings set up to sell the THIS IS THE LIFE – Classic TV Series and MIRACLE MOUNTAIN Reality show.

It was also great to hang out with our friends from Lutheran Hour Ministries.   Really great people who love the Lord!

We flew in two day before the convention so we took a side trip to Daytona 500 Speedway for opening trials.  Loud but a lot of fun.

We also went by Mount Dora…  not too sure about the “Mount” part, but it was a beautiful little town.   Saw this sea plane at sunset.

The convention was a success.  We had many great meetings and I think ultimately HOLLYWOOD IMPACT STUDIOS is going to be in the TV producing business.

On my way back to the car to fly back to LA, this was the view God gave me.   Nice way to end a terrific trip.

One of our Hollywood Impact Studios grads shared that when he was in prison, he took advantage of Angel Tree for his kids.  He was moved to be part of this years Angel Tree event and be the one buying and giving the gifts.    Praise God!

HOLLYWOOD IMPACT STUDIOS – News & Updates

It has been busy at HOLLYWOOD IMPACT STUDIOS and we have not posted anything in quite a while.   Two events that kept us busy at the end of 2016 were our First Annual Fundraiser and our 2016 Angel Tree gift giving event…   This post will be about the fundraiser.   In a few days I’ll post one on Angel Tree.  Wanted to share some special moments from the fundraiser held at Grace Baptist Church in Santa Clarita.

HOLLYWOOD IMPACT STUDIOS – News & Updates

Lots has transpired since my last post…

dsc_5533

This post, I’m going to talk about our end of semester shoot, “Going Back”.   This shoot was directed by Jim Sembiazza, who came up with this unique idea.

dsc_5594dsc_5556

We would follow two former inmates, Tony Mendoza and Matthew Feldmeth back into jail.   Both men been out of jail/prison for over a year. Neither had been back since their release.    For Tony, it had been over a year and for Matthew, he had not been in Pitchess Detention Center for over 18 years.  (He was in state prison)  Both men would give current inmates some advise on how not to return to jail once they’re released.   Neither man pulled any punches either.

dsc_5577

This heart-shaped cloud appear over our shoot.   A smile from God or just a random cloud shape?   It’s up to you to decide.

It was a great shoot and I think everyone got a lot out of it.   Thanks to all of our volunteers and the Sheriff’s Department for your sacrifices and help in getting this one “in the can”.
